Aside from a tried and tested project management methodology, what makes me so adept as a project manager is my capacity to hold space for people. I have high emotional intelligence, am a trained community engagement professional and have lived all over the world and speak more than one language. This means, in short, that I can build trust quickly with people, hear what the problems are and solve them. Project management is effectively a series of mitigating and solving problems in a live space. I do this with elegance and wisdom not just because I have been doing it for so long, but because I am values driven and care for win-win outcomes.
A mentor once told me, “if you don’t have trust, you’ve got nothing”. In all of my project management structures, whether leading teams of over 50 people or working as a self-employed consultant, I’ve lived by this credo and it’s served me well.
